Description

We are looking for a Business Development/Acquisition Specialist (BDS) to assist Seventh Sense Consulting in our efforts to support the National Institutes of Health (NIH) at a site in Rockville, MD.  This position is part of a highly motivated team that provides critical support to three Government Wide Acquisition Contracts (GWACs) for the NIH Information Technology Acquisition and Assessment Center (NITAAC).  The BDS provides support with business development planning, outreach activities, and lead and opportunity generation.  The BDS will be responsible for supporting business development activities primarily for the CIO-CS GWAC which provides IT commodities and solutions but will also support the other NITAAC GWACs. The BDS is expected to develop and maintain relationships within both industry and the federal government resulting in increased visibility of the NITAAC GWACs and opportunities for new task orders.  Application of business acumen, personal initiative, and other competencies are required daily.  Expect to participate in complex tasks and to make a difference for the NIH customer.

Hiring Timeframe: Immediate
 
Work Location: This role requires 60-70% travel, primarily CONUS, with an annual trip to Hawaii and possible trip(s) to Alaska, Europe, and Asia.  Five days a week on-site is required at the Rockville, MD location.
 
Responsibilities: 

  • Provide executive-level outreach and business development
  • Be conversant on current IT topics such as Cloud migration, Cyber security, etc.
  • Develop trusted business relationships with federal government agency customers, contract holders, and original equipment manufacturers (OEM)
  • Develop new business opportunities through effectively managing business leads and maintaining current federal contact data, business leads within Salesforce software
  • Provide acquisition guidance to federal contracting officers and NITAAC staff
  • Educate federal agencies on the effective use of the NITAAC GWACs
  • Explain the advantages of using the GWAC and specifically CIO CS (IT commodities and solutions) to customers
  • Explain to federal agencies why they would use the GWACs and how to use them
  • Provide GWAC training sessions to customers
  • Travel to tradeshows and other events
  • Respond to Helpdesk tickets
  • Work with the BD team to develop the Annual Business Development Plan and Quarterly updates
  • Support the planning of Monthly Contract Holder Meetings
  • Support the planning of Quarterly Contract Holder Meetings and participate as a speaker when needed (public speaking to approximately 500 attendees)
  • Collaborate with other team members supporting Training, Category Management, Marketing, Communications, CMMI, Campaigns, Helpdesk, Assisted Acquisition, and Task Order Management.


Qualifications:
 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution authorized to grant baccalaureate degrees and 24 hours of business
  • 10+ years of Federal Acquisition Experience
  • Preferred:  Level II – III FAC-C or DAWIA certification
  • Preferred: 3 to 5 years of Marketing/Business Development
  • Preferred:  Familiarity with NITAAC GWACs
  • Preferred:  Experience using Salesforce
  • Preferred: Federal contract specialist or contracting officer experience

Salary Range: The proposed salary range for this position is $115,000.00 to $125,000.00 per year. This range reflects factors such as geographic location, skills, experience, training, certifications, contract-specific affordability, and organizational needs.
