Overview:
 

In anticipation of a contract award, we are seeking a Defense Travel Reviewer/Analyst (Mid/SME). In this role, you will support a highly visible Defense Aviation Joint Program Office (JPO), responsible for managing a major defense weapon system development. You will provide general business travel guidance and Defense Travel System (DTS) expertise, oversight, and training in support of F-35 Lightning program. Your job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Assists the F-35 JPO by providing general business travel guidance, Defense Travel System (DTS) support, JPO AF and Navy government travel charge card (GTCC) program oversight/training, and the AF central billing account to the JPO government traveler
  • Prepares, reviews, and monitors travel authorizations, vouchers, and local vouchers. Reviews and recommends voucher payments, performs weekly audits of travel obligations, expenditures, and un-submitted vouchers
  • Maintains a close working relationship with travel Approving Officials to ensure timely approval of orders
  • Assists in resolving payment and funding discrepancies with each Team and travelers
  • Creates new profiles for new personnel, updates profiles when changes occur, and deletes profiles upon departure of personnel
  • Provides periodic written updates on travel expenditures, travel frequency, GTC usage
  • DTA Reviewer and Travel SME provides subject matter expertise on official business travel guidance, DTS support, and serves as a travel reviewer in the approval process for travel authorizations and vouchers

 

Required Qualifications:
 

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Education
    • Bachelor’s in Business Management, or related discipline
    • OR Associates Degree plus four (4) years of additional relevant work experience
    • OR six (6) years of additional relevant work experience
  • Work Experience:
    • Defense Travel System (DTS) Analyst - a minimum one year of total business process experience in either a DoD Weapon System Program Office or equivalent commercial setting.
    • DTS Reviewer and Travel SME - a minimum of 2 years DTS support performing travel prep, review, and approving DTS orders/vouchers
    • DTS Reviewer and Travel SME also requires Completion of the Travel Explorer (TraX) courses. Required TraX Classes: 1) DTS Basics, 2) DTS 101, 3) Programs & Policies (P&P) DoD Travel Polices, 4) P&P - City Pair Program, 5) P&P - U.S. Government Rental Car Program, 6) DTS Cancellation Procedures, 7) OCONUS Travel, 8) DTS Constructed Travel, 9) DTS Itinerary Changes, and 10) DTS Personal Leave w/Official Travel
  • Working knowledge of Defense Joint Travel Regulations, and Department of Defense Financial Management Regulations as they relate to travel. (i.e. Vol 5, Chs 3 and 8, Vol 9 Ch 22) and demonstrates the ability to research such regulations and local business rules to obtain special allowances or authorizations from appropriate offices
  • Knowledge of and experience with the Defense Travel System (DTS) and government travel charge card systems - US Citibank Commercial Card system and Central Billing Accounts
  • DTS Reviewer and Travel SME also requires advanced knowledge of and experience with the Defense Travel System (DTS) and Defense Joint Travel Regulations, and Department of Defense Financial Management Regulations as they relate to travel and demonstrates the ability to research such regulations and local business rules to obtain special allowances or authorizations from appropriate offices
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Focus on customer service and responsiveness with sound customer handling skills
  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance


Preferred Qualifications:
 

  • F-35 Lightning II program knowledge and expertise
  • Active Secret security clearance
